CHORUS NATURE

An hour to listen to nature

I suggest you listen to nature in real time for an hour as I was able to record it live. No mixing, no editing, no additional sound. Listening in its raw state.

I remember the first audio CD on nature bought commercially in 1984 entitled "WATERFALL" cascade in French. A Japanese CD that was a technological revolution because it was produced entirely digitally in the heart of nature without any artifice of transformation.

Listening to it carefully the first time, I was surprised that there was only one hour-long sequence of distant listening to this waterfall with sometimes the passing of a bird. Impeccable sound quality, but at that time I put the CD away thinking I would never listen to it again because it seemed too monotonous to see almost empty.

Thirty years later I found this CD again and I listened to it carefully. It was for me a great happiness and even a revelation. I had matured in my listening and I was ready for such patience and such a moment of contemplation.

This CD is today the very foundation of my evolution as an audio-naturalist by realizing that sometimes nature must simply be listened to in the reality of its time. This time which seems to be missing and yet which represents the journey towards the source of our own life. To remind myself of this, I regularly listen to "WATERFALL" or one of my hours of CHORUS NATURE.

Give it a try, it feels really good.

The following four hours were spent during the first confinement in Drôme when the silence of the men appeared in the landscape. In the first hour, however, a plane passes, it was perhaps the last for more than three months of an almost virgin sky. Good listening.
